Neil's praise for Paddy

Bolton

NEIL Lennon has high hopes for Irish loan signing Paddy McCarthy at Bolton.

The Dubliner, on loan from Crystal Palace, suffered a defeat on his Bolton debut against Blackburn last night but boss Lennon knows there's more to come.

"There are still a few positives, but it kind of feels like they don't really count for much," Lennon said after the loss to Blackburn at Ewood Park

"Our two new loan players did well. I thought Paddy in particular was outstanding and he'll only get better with more game time.

"As a manager you're always looking over your shoulder. We now must go and win the game on Saturday against Millwall."

McCarthy, 31, is still under contract at Palace but has been frozen out this season and didn't make it into their 25-man squad for the Premier League campaign. He was loaned out to Sheffield United earlier this season and he will use the loan spell at Bolton to prove himself and aim to win a long-term move in the summer.
