Moura reveals reason for snub
Lucas Moura has revealed he snubbed a move to Manchester United to sign for Paris Saint-Germain after a last-minute intervention from Leonardo.
The Brazilian winger was close to moving to Old Trafford from Sao Paulo in 2012. But he says it was a phone call from fellow Brazilian Leonardo, who was working as PSG's sporting director, that convinced him to change his mind.
Moura said: "I was very close to joining Manchester United.
"It nearly happened but, at the last minute, Leonardo called me and spoke to me and my parents. It was a very difficult moment because suddenly I had to make a choice when I thought I was joining Manchester United.
"I thought about it a lot. I talked about it with my family and I made my choice. Football is like that. You have to choose a team."
The 23-year-old right-winger has 33 caps for Brazil, scoring four goals.
