McLeish: Robbie will give us big lift
ROBBIE Keane trained with Aston Villa this morning as he prepared to complete his return to the Premier League, just before Thierry Henry completes his Arsenal comeback in the FA Cup against Leeds.
While Irish fans will be delighted to see Giovanni Trapattoni's skipper back in the big-time, and ready to sharpen up his game in advance of the Euro 2012 finals, Henry's second coming with the Gunners will be viewed with less enthusiasm.
Keane will bolster Villa's season at a time when there is intense speculation about a Liverpool move for Darren Bent.
“It will give everybody a lift – the team, the staff and most importantly the fans,” said Villa boss Alex McLeish.
“You are talking about a guy who is at his peak. At 19 there is a lot you don't know, but at 31 you certainly know a lot more.
“Robbie wants to be at his peak for Euro 2012 and feels he wants to keep right on top of his sharpness, so if he has that kind of motivation it can only be good for us.”
