McGoldrick boost for boss O'Neill
David McGoldrick is on course to be fit in time for Ireland's Euro 2016 battle with Bosnia next month, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.
The 27-year-old has yet to play in a competitive game for Ireland but he could come into the frame at least for the away leg of that play-off, where Jon Walters definitely misses out due to suspension while Shane Long is a major doubt due to injury.
The club form of McGoldrick's team-mate Daryl Murphy - yet to score for Ipswich this season - is another concern, so Martin O'Neill will be relieved to see McGoldrick back in action for Mick McCarthy's side tomorrow following injury.
"He came to my office this morning and said 'I want to be considered, I want to be in contention, I think I'm okay'," said McCarthy.
"That'll be a real plus if he's fit."
Meanwhile, David Meyler has earned the praise of Hull boss Steve Bruce after his midweek display. "When you're going into a fight, you'd want Meyler alongside you. He's relentless," said Bruce.
