McGeady is spurred on to make his Euro mark
AIDEN McGEADY is back in action after a winter break and he's already thinking ahead to the European Championship finals this summer.
McGeady's last game for his club, Spartak Moscow, was at the end of November, as the new-look Russian league season took a break, before he resumes league action in March.
McGeady and the other Spartak players reported back to Moscow for pre-season duty last week and they jetted out to the UAE on Saturday for a training camp.
His first proper game of the new year will be Ireland's friendly against the Czech Republic next month but the former Celtic star already has Ireland on his mind.
"The European Championships will be one of the biggest moments of my career, a massive stage to play on, and I have to be in the tight condition," he said.
"Hopeuflly, if this pre-season goes well and I start the season well with Spartak I can be in top condition and have a good Euros. I want to be in the best shape as possible for the summer so I can shine on that big stage.
"I'm just happy to be back at work, I had a good holiday but it's good to get back to work," added McGeady, who used his break back home to attend the Old Firm game earlier this month.
"It was nice to get back and see people, see some of the people I used to play with. I went into the dressing room after the game to see some of my friends."
