Mark Hughes targets 50 points for record breakers Stoke
Mark Hughes challenged Stoke to end their season in record-breaking fashion following their 3-0 victory over Tottenham.
Charlie Adam, Steven Nzonzi and Mame Diouf found the net in an impressive victory over sixth-placed Spurs at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
The result means Stoke have equalled their Premier League record tally of 50 points, which they achieved last year.
Given they still have matches against Burnley and Liverpool to come, Hughes knows his team have a good chance of eclipsing that haul before the season is out.
"We're really working hard and we want to keep that going until the end - that is what I demand and that's what the players expect," the Stoke manager (below) said. "We don't give them any respite. We have a good opportunity to better last year's total. Let's see if we can do it."
Hughes' team re-wrote the history books in two respects on Saturday. It was the first time Stoke had done the double over Tottenham in their 152-year history. And it was their biggest win over the Londoners in 80 years.
