Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo believes team-mate Angel di Maria is one of the best players in the world and has backed his compatriot to prove it at Old Trafford.

The £59.7million British record transfer signing endured a disappointing maiden campaign in Louis van Gaal's first season in charge, leading to speculation he could move on this summer.

Rojo, however, is confident Di Maria will rediscover his best form and silence the critics.

"For me, the player with the most talent at Manchester United is Angel," the Argentina international told the Copa America official website.

"There are great players at the club but Angel, for me, is one of the best in the team and in the world.

"It has been a difficult year for him. He had some problems adapting but that's normal.

"Any player coming to a new country and a new league has to adapt to the differences and that's what happens but I'm sure he will do really well in the months ahead."

United have made a late change to their pre-season tour by switching the venue of their match against San Jose Earthquakes on July 21 to ease travel plans.

The game was scheduled to be played at the 63,000-capacity California Memorial Stadium in Berkley, California, but will now be held at the 18,000-seat Avaya Stadium near San Jose - avoiding a 90-mile round trip but meaning thousands of fans who were expecting to see the game will now miss out on a ticket.

Last season's tour to the United States was criticised by Van Gaal for the vast distances they were required to travel which impacted on training schedules.

A statement from Cal Athletics said: "Our campus representatives were informed by our promotional partner, Relevent Sports, that the Manchester United vs. San Jose Earthquakes match scheduled for July 21 at California Memorial Stadium, has been relocated to Avaya Stadium in San Jose.

"We were informed that the change in venue was made in order to better meet Manchester United's travel and logistical requirements.

"Those who purchased tickets will be issued a full refund and should expect their refund within 5-7 days."
