Mac eyes Wembley

JAMES McCARTHY is relishing his fourth appearance at Wembley in Sunday's Community Shield clash with Manchester United.

The Ireland man played at the London venue twice for Wigan, in the FA Cup semi-final and final, and also for Ireland in their 1-1 draw with England in May – happy memories for the midfielder.

"It's always good to play at big stadiums and Wembley makes it for a great occasion. It's four times now in the last few months that I'll be going to Wembley and it is a little bit surreal but we're all excited to go there and try and get another great result," says McCarthy.

"I'm hungry to play on Sunday and pick up that fourth appearance at the stadium, but I'm no different from every other player in the squad because as footballers we always want to be in the team."
