louis: i have a dream
Van Gaal all fired up for Manchester showdown
MANCHESTER United manager Louis van Gaal admits he is dreaming of a first Manchester derby win at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Van Gaal lost his first meeting with Manchester City last November, when Sergio Aguero scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Blues.
However, United have suffered four successive losses to their neighbours, and the Dutchman is determined to avoid another reverse when Manuel Pellegrini's men come to Old Trafford.
"I dream of it, every player shall dream of the victory," the United boss said.
"Everybody is talking about this derby in the streets of Manchester.
"All the players understand the meaning of a victory and I know it also."
Van Gaal confirmed that United striker Robin van Persie has failed in his bid to be fit for tomorrow's game.
Van Persie scored the winner the last time United beat City - a 3-2 away victory in December 2012.
When asked whether club record signing Angel Di Maria had done enough to force his way into the team against City, van Gaal said he was not afraid to tinker with his line-up.
"'Never change a winning team' is an English expression, but I always have my eyes open," he said.
