Landen United have been expelled from the Leinster Football League arising out of alleged incidents after a recent game with D-Pils inconfines of vdressing room area of the Phoenix Park.

The LFL Disciplinary Committee examined the incidents that took place and decided to expel Landen from the league.

Landen have been one of the longest established clubs in the LFL and have won most of the major trophies on offer.

The club are to appeal to the Leinster Football Association. A decision on that appeal is likely to be made within the next 10 days. Landen fielded two teams in the Leinster Football League.

Bohemians going strong on two fronts!

Bohemians started their National League campaign with a 1-0 away to Dundalk under the TV cameras and fans of the Gypsies had reason to be pleased with the winning start.

Among them is Gordon Sweeney who pointed out to this column that his team Bohs -- the LFL version -- are also enjoying a little run of form at the moment.

They defeated Park Orient and followed that up with a 2-2 draw against Sarto last week, the goals scored by Declan Healy and Ray Quinn.

It was no surprise that Ray Quinn should be among the goal-getters. He, along with his brother Stephen make up Bohs' main treat in front of the posts. Both have got their fair share of goals this season and look like ending up as topscorers.

I suppose you could say they are Bohs' own version of the mighty Quinns!!

Home bird Ross doing a good job at Rialto

Ross McNally knows a thing or two about football having spent some time in the professional ranks.

For four years Ross was on the books at Brighton and Hove Albion and played almost 20 first-team games for the Seagulls.

When he was at the Goldstone Ground Liam Brady was there as manager. When he left Jimmy Case took over. Others Irishmen around when McNally was there included Gerry Ryan who was assistant manager for time.

When first team appearances became difficult to secure Ross headed home. "I felt I would earn just as much, if not more, in a job back home than I would staying where I was," he told this column recently.

Last year Paddy Lyne offered Ross a chance to take charge of the Rialto Saturday side. He accepted and now his team is emerging as a strong favourite for the Division 3 title. At the time of writing only one game had been lost -- and that was in a cup tie.

Rialto have games in hand over their rivals for the title and their fate is in their own hands. One lesson McNally has learned is the importance of finding a settled side, week in, week out. That, he says, encourages consistency the password to success.
