Jobstown land Ellis in Cup final cracker
Jobstown Celtic 3 Hoganville FC 2
It was celebration time for Sean Byrne and his Jobstown Celtic Bhoys as they fired three past Hoganville to win the Jerry Ellis Cup final at Bluebell United''s ground on Saturday evening.
This was the first leg of what they hope will be a double cup success. Next Friday evening they face Galty Celtic in the Dalton Cup showdown.
Kenneth Nolan sent Jobstown Celtic on their way in this game when he headed home from an Alan Byrne free. Charles de Courcey finished superbly for a second.
Then just before the break in-form de Courcey was on target again this time drilling home after he was set up by Nolan.
Hoganville pulled two goals back from Shane Nolan and Christopher Donoghue and also had two players sent off.
Outstanding for the winners was Willie Gilson, Alan Byrne and Lee Spillane but this was a wholehearted team effort. Shane Nolan stood out for Hoganville.
"We deserved it, we played well all year, the lads worked hard on the training pitch and got their reward," added manager Byrne who praised the efforts of trainer Mick Morgan for his efforts in getting the team into shape.
Now Jobstown Celtic turn their attention to Friday night as they chase the elusive double.
