It proves a happy 30th for Harry Kane as Spurs pile on the hurt for Newcastle
Harry Kane was pleased to help Tottenham get back to winning ways as he scored his 30th goal of the season in Spurs' 3-1 Premier League victory at Newcastle.
Kane stroked home Spurs' third goal in time added on at St James' Park as Spurs condemned Newcastle to a sixth successive league defeat on a day when thousands of Magpies fans stayed away in protest at owner Mike Ashley's tenure.
The England striker's effort came after Christian Eriksen had restored Tottenham's lead minutes after Jack Colback had dragged Newcastle back into the game by cancelling out Nacer Chadli's first-half opener.
The victory was only Tottenham's second in five matches and came after a disappointing draw at Burnley a fortnight ago and last weekend's home defeat against Aston Villa.
"I think we deserved it today, we played very well," Kane (pictured) said. "We had two disappointing performances in the last couple of weeks and we wanted to put it right. Credit to the lads we really played well and deserved the three points."
Kane became the first Spurs player in 23 years to pass the 30-goal mark in a season.
