Ireland call for Dutch-based star Jack Byrne
IRISH fans will get a chance to see how Dutch-based prospect Jack Byrne is progressing as he's been named in the Ireland U21 squad for a European Championship double header next month.
Noel King's side have had a good start in their bid to qualify for the 2017 U21 Euro finals, to be held in Poland, with successive wins (and clean sheets) against Andorra.
Next up is a game at home to Lithuania, in Waterford, on Friday October 9th with a trip to Italy four days later.
King has named his squad for the two qualifiers, with only one home-based player (Dundalk's Seán Maguire) included. One name that stands out is Dubliner Jack Byrne, who is on a season-long loan from Manchester City to Dutch side Cambuur. The attacking midfielder missed the start of the Dutch season with injury but he has come into the side in their last two games and played in front of a crowd of 15,000 against Champions League side PSV in midweek.
