SHAMROCK ROVERS will be hoping the feelgood factor created by this week's signing of Damien Duff can propel them to victory in tonight's Europa League second round qualifier first leg against Norwegian side Odds BK at Tallaght Stadium (8.0).

"I grew up watching him and he was one of my favourite players so if I can keep up with him, I'd love to go around him," said Hoops left back Luke Byrne (inset).

"He's probably been one of Ireland's best ever players so I loved to watch him, growing up.

"He's really down to earth. He came around and mixed into the group straight away," added Byrne.

"He's injured at the minute so he wasn't out on the pitch training but we'll get to know him very quickly.

"I suppose the European games were a priority but there's been a bit of a buzz around and talk amongst the lads since we heard it in the media.

"It's going to help us and especially the young lads, we're looking forward to seeing how he looks after himself."

Rovers manager Fenlon says his side face a step up in class tonight.

"The Norwegian league is decent so we know we're going into a game against higher calibre opposition.

"We are going into this round thinking it would be great to get through again and dreaming about what's ahead."

Seán O'Connor is still on the Rovers injury list so misses out tonight along with Keith Fahey and Stephen McPhail but Conor Kenna and Max Blanchard both trained this week.
