SEAMUS Coleman and Wes Hoolahan have bought Giovanni Trapattoni some breathing space - and placed themselves firmly in the frame for the World Cup qualifier against Sweden.
While Zlatan Ibrahimovic was showing just how big a job Ireland will have in Stockholm by single-handedly demolishing England with all four goals in a 4-2 win, two men Trapattoni wouldn't cross the road to watch 12 months ago showed against Greece that there is life after Germany.
"The result was disappointing but the performance confirmed what I was looking for from the young players. In the first 20 minutes, we played great football," said Trapattoni after the game.
"The positive situation was the performance of three, four players. Coleman deserved Man of the Match, and Clark was also fantastic. Hoolahan showed he can give us an option. We can use these players in the future.
"Hoolahan was very good and confirmed the quality we know he has. He's a good option, maybe if we need to have one striker, and at the moment, we have no other players in this position."
