Griezmann hints at new United era with Jose
Is Jose Mourinho quietly pulling the strings at Old Trafford already?
News that Antoine Griezmann's brother Theo has dropped a huge hint that Old Trafford is still in his family's thoughts suggests that Manchester United are active in the transfer market right now.
Mourinho's thinly-disguised campaign to nail down the Old Trafford position grew further legs over the weekend with claims from "friends" that residual opposition at Manchester United within the group traditionally associated with Bobby Charlton has evaporated.
A move for Griezmann now would be in line with Mourinho's practice. He gave Chelsea a list this time last year and eventually walked when none of his preferences were delivered and his season unravelled.
The Atletico Madrid striker was widely-tipped as a Van Gaal recruit in the summer and even before that during David Moyes's doomed spell.
United relegated Aston Villa on Saturday but Theo Griezmann tweeted on Sunday: "Glory, Glory Man Utd".
This was the same message which alerted United fans to a late move from Old Trafford for his brother last summer, subsequently confirmed by Griezmann's agent.
Theo Greizmann caused a stir in a series of tweets which included a picture of brother Antoine wearing a United shirt.
