Gareth Bale's agent has slammed Roy Keane following his criticisms of the player's performance in the Champions League semi-final.

on UTV last night, Keane said Bale's display against Juventus was so poor it was like the reigning European champions were "playing with 10 men".

He added: "You say a lack of confidence from Bale but he kept making the easy decision. The reason he's at Real Madrid is to be brave and get at people.

"Every time he got at people, even on one v ones, he turned back. His teammates can't be happy with him because he took the easy option every time."

Bale's performance was also criticised by fellow pundits Paul Scholes and Lee Dixon, but Bale's representative Jonathan Barnett slammed their criticisms.

"Why should we take any notice of comments from people who don't know what they are talking about - and from people who have failed in management," he said.

"This is only an issue in England. Gareth is at the biggest club in the world. He is one of the best players in the world. He is fine.

"He only listens to relevant comments. He is 100% focussed on Real Madrid."

Bale's performance was defended by his manager Carlo Ancelotti, who said he was still not fully fit following a spell out with injury.
