Fresh call for Jack Grealish to declare for Ireland
Call for Grealish to declare for Irish to aid hope of qualification
IRELAND fans are sending a clear message to Jack Grealish. Get off the fence and help us get to France.
Grealish tweeted a picture from Tenerife taken just before Saturday's kick-off at the Aviva and his account was flooded with messages from Ireland fans.
And Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has admitted that he would have to consider a fast track for Grealish into the heart of Ireland's increasingly desperate battle to qualify for the Euro 2016 finals after a draw against Scotland at the Aviva on Saturday.
"It's a good point, but it's 'ifs and buts' at this stage. If he did do, then we would really have to look at that."
Asked whether he would go and talk to Grealish between now and the new season, O'Neill kicked for touch.
"I really think that you'd have to ask Jack and the family themselves. Really, you know. But what I've said to him is that he's a fairly decent chance, a better chance, of getting into our team than he would have of getting into England in the foreseeable future."
Despite two more dropped points against Scotland, O'Neill still believes that there will be more twists and turns and that Ireland's chances of qualification are very firmly alive.
"We're not out of it. Genuinely not out of the group, because I've seen groups before and I've seen things turn and twist," he said.
