Five-week time frame for Wilson
Marc Wilson is hoping to be back in action with Stoke City this season in plenty of time to stake a claim for Ireland's Euro 2016 squad.
This season has been a disaster for the 27-year-old, who has been restricted to just four Premier League appearances due to injury.
He's been sidelined since he suffered a knee injury in an FA Cup tie in January. Initially ruled out for 12 weeks, making him certain to miss the March international friendlies, he was facing a tough battle to make it back into the Irish squad.
But Wilson has confirmed that he's making good progress in his rehab programme, revealing on social media that he he was "showing good improvement in upper body strength and getting better each week".
He added that he was five weeks away from rejoining his Stoke City team-mates in full training.
Club mate Shay Given is also working his way back from injury following surgery late last year.
Meanwhile, the Potters' Irish midfielder Glenn Whelan is expected to play in tonight's Premier League home clash with Newcastle despite breaking his nose in Saturday's win over Aston Villa.
