Ronald Koeman is on a collision course with Martin O'Neill over the release of James McCarthy for the November 13 World Cup qualifying clash with Austria in Vienna.

The Everton boss revealed that McCarthy is still recovering from a hamstring strain which he blamed on a "massive overloading" by O'Neill and won't be available to play against West Ham tomorrow.

McCarthy played against Georgia at home and again against Moldova three days later and Koeman didn't mince his words when he claimed that O'Neill was "killing" the midfielder. Now, he has indicated that his anger over McCarthy's efforts for Ireland is still an issue and one he is not happy to let lie.

"It is a slight hamstring problem," said the Toffees boss.

"That came out of when he played, after he played for Ireland, and everybody knows what my reaction was at that time.

"The boy needs training. That's what he needs before starting to play," he added.

"But we know in two weeks, again we have the international duty.

"It's not the moment to talk about that. We need to keep focused on Sunday."
