Duff on way to LOI
LA GAlaxy say that Robbie Keane is close to a recovery from his injury problems, but it's still a concern for Martin O'Neill and the FAI that there's still no date set for his return to action, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.
Keane, pictured (right) in training yesterday, has missed the club's last six games due to a groin injury and is almost certain to miss Sunday's MLS game against Orlando City, the Ireland captain skipping a potential clash with Sean St Ledger (see Page 59).
"He should be back on the field very shortly. We're very happy with his progress," Galaxy manager Bruce Arena said.
Galaxy coach Dave Sarachan said that Keane's travel demands with Ireland for the March qualifier against Poland disrupted his pre-season but that he was now back on track. "I think that this rest and recovery has been an important piece for him," he said.
"I think when he comes back, he'll be at a really good level, but it's not anything at this stage that needs to be rushed. "Even though Robbie is a competitor and wants to play, he's realistic and knows that he's almost there," Sarachan confirmed.
