Defensive crisis for Man City as Vincent Kompany ruled out of Borussia Monchengladbach clash
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of Wednesday's Champions League Group D clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.
The influential defender has missed City's last three games with a calf injury and will not travel to Germany with the rest of the squad. Fellow centre-back Eliaquim Mangala (groin) also remains on the sidelines.
Goalkeeper Joe Hart (back), playmaker David Silva (calf) and midfielder Yaya Toure (hamstring) will travel despite recent problems but Wilfried Bony is still nursing a knock and Gael Clichy (ankle) and Fabian Delph (hamstring) are out long term.
Provisional squad: Hart, Caballero, Sagna, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Otamendi, Kolarov, Maffeo, Nasri, Silva, Sterling, De Bruyne, Navas, Toure, Fernandinho, Fernando, Barker, Evans, Glendon, Aguero.
