Danny North: 'I'll be Rovers new goal hero'
DANNY North hopes he can fill a gap for Shamrock Rovers and become the goalscorer they need to sustain a title challenge.
The Hoops have never really replaced the free-scoring Gary Twigg: while he averaged 20 league goals a season there, since his exit the club's top scorer managed a measly eight goals. But North, signed from Sligo Rovers, struck on opening night to give Pat Fenlon's side a 1-0 win over St Patrick's Athletic and he hopes to win over the Hoops fans who would previously have barracked North.
"Yeah, they have sang my name a fair few times over the years when it was not so pleasant, but it's nice to try and win them over so early, I know they are craving a goal scorer and hopefully I can be that one," says North.
"Pat was looking for a striker that can get 15-20 goals and hopefully I can play my part towards that."
