Danilo realises childhood dream as he joins Real
Brazil right-back Danilo (pictured) has realised a lifelong dream by joining Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old was unveiled at a press conference at the Bernabeu yesterday after joining the Spanish giants from FC Porto.
Danilo, who signed a contract with Real until June 2021 after three years in Portugal, said to the Spanish press: "This is one of the best days of my life. "Today, I realise a childhood dream. I can only promise I will give everything in every game.
"I know no other way."
Real paid FC Porto e31.5million for the Brazil international, making Danilo the most expensive defender to have arrived at the club.
"I am honoured and I feel truly valued by the club," Danilo said. "I know the financial effort the club has done to sign me. I hope to repay it on the pitch.
"The most important thing for me is to adapt to the club, to the team and to the city as soon as possible.
"This will help me play better."
Danilo knows he will have to work hard to earn a starting place under new coach Rafa Benitez, with Alvaro Arbeloa and Dani Carvajal also in contention to start at right-back.
