City star Otamendi: 'I'm at the top of my game'
Nicolas Otamendi reckons City have bought an international defender "at the top of my game".
The £31.5million new boy is set to join the travelling party to Merseyside for Sunday's clash with Everton - but knows he faces a fight to win a place in a team he says produced a "perfect" display against Chelsea.
Otamendi has promised the Blues' faithful one thing - they will get 100 per cent from him in every game.
And, with his muscular approach, uncompromising attitude and steely glare, the 27-year-old former Valencia man has "cult figure" written all over him.
"I am a player who loves fighting for every ball, I try to play hard to win every ball," said Otamendi, whose combination of pace, solidity and nous earned him a big reputation in La Liga.
"That's something basic for a defender. I give all I have in every game.
"On the pitch I am a player with a lot of personality. I like to have all the lines well organised in defence to allow the midfielders and strikers to attack without worries. I like to keep defensive order in the team.
"With the important players we have in attack, it's a big help to stay ordered to avoid conceding goals.
"Throughout the years, I have gained experience and have learnt a lot of things about football.
"Today I am at an age where I have to keep learning new things, but I feel that I am in one of the best moments of my career, at the top of my game."
