Cesc joy at new contracts

CESC FABREGAS has expressed his delight at the news that Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi, Xavi, Carles Puyol and highly-rated winger Cristian Tello have agreed contract extensions with the club.

"Great news for FC Barcelona! Very happy for the renewals of @ctello91, @Carles5puyol, Leo and Xavi!", wrote Fabregas (pictured) on Twitter.

Fellow Barca midfielder Javier Mascherano was of a similar opinion, writing on his Twitter account: "Congratulations Puyi, Xavi and Leo for the renovations, great news for the team!!!"

Messi's new contract ties him to Barca until 2018, while Spain internationals Xavi and Carles Puyol have agreed extensions until 2016. The trio will sign their deals in the coming weeks, Barca announced.

If ever a band has been well served by the literary world it's The Beatles. Practically every aspect of that revolutionary body of work has been dealt with in book form... or so one would have thought. From Hunter Davies' The Beatles, through Philip Norman's Shout, Bob Spitz's humongously detailed history and Ian McDonald's brilliant Revolution in the Head, which offered a musical and contextual analysis of every song they ever recorded, surely there's nothing left of interest to diehard fans of the Fabs. Well, think again.
