Gary Cahill is targeting more silverware with Chelsea after penning a new four-year deal with the reigning Barclays Premier League Champions.

The 29-year-old England defender moved to Stamford Bridge from Bolton in January 2012 and has since established himself as a first-team regular.

As well as last year's Premier League crown, Cahill has also won the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League since joining the Blues and - despite a poor start to their title defence - he is keen to add to his impressive medal collection.

"I'm really pleased to commit my future to Chelsea and it's great the club has put their faith in me," he told the club's official website.

"I have achieved a lot here and I hope I can keep on learning, helping the team and lifting trophies over the next four years."

An ever-present for England during their disappointing 2014 World Cup campaign, Cahill captained his country for the first time in October's European Championship Qualifying victory over Estonia at Wembley.

He has blossomed at Chelsea, playing alongside John Terry for most of his time there, and his form saw him named in the Professional Footballers' Association Premier League team of the year in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Cahill has made 18 appearances for Jose Mourinho's side this season as their title defence continues to stutter, with Chelsea currently 14th in the table and 14 points behind leaders Manchester City.

His new deal comes in timely fashion just over two weeks before his 30th birthday, with Chelsea often strict on the length on contracts handed out to players from 30 onwards.

The likes of Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole have experienced such practice in the past but Cahill's new four-year agreement will see him remain at the club in the long-term.

Cahill and his team-mates have had a stuttering start to their season with only 15 points from their opening 14 games of the season and are at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.
