Brendan Rodgers: 'I'm the man for the job'
Deal for Dutch star would put an end to LVG’s bid to bring Bale back to Premier League
MANCHESTER United boss Louis van Gaal is cranking up his transfer activity amid speculation that Memphis Depay sat down in Manchester for talks yesterday and is poised to sign a four-year contract worth £6m a year.
If these talks prove conclusive, it would suggest that Van Gaal has abandoned his notion of bringing Gareth Bale back to the Premier League.
The Dutchman is expected to get another £150m to spend this summer and doing business with Real Madrid for Bale would take a sizeable chunk out of his fighting fund.
At £25m, Depay ticks all the boxes for Van Gaal and would allow him to continue his pursuit of targets like Mats Hummels and Kevin Strootman.
Reports claims that Depay flew into England with agent Kees Ploegsma and has already spoken with PSG.
Liverpool boss Liverpool Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign the player many rate as the best young attacking midfielder in Europe and is also chasing tough-tackling Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi with a £23m bid.
