Birmingham boss blasts Stephen Gleeson for stupid red card
BIRMINGHAM City boss Gary Rowett has hit out at Ireland cap Stephen Gleeson for his red card "stupidity".
Saturday was a good day for Birmingham as they beat Brentford 1-0 but it finished on a sour note as midfielder Gleeson was shown a straight red card.
"It was poor. He has kicked out or stamped. I have spoken to Glees about that and said that was the only thing that spoiled the day a little bit," said Rowett of Gleeson.
"He has let himself down and he has given someone else an opportunity to step into his shoes for three games and make that position his own.
"He is going to suffer more than anyone. He knows that he is an honest lad, it was just a bit of stupidity."
