Berra nets late winner in friendly with North
IRELAND'S Euro 2016 qualifying group opponents Scotland kept up their impressive run of form with a victory in last night's friendly with Northern Ireland at Hampden Park.
Christophe Berra (right) grabbed the winner for the hosts with a header from a corner in the 85th minute, to make it 22 friendlies without a victory for Michael O'Neill's side.
Scotland started with a purpose and in the fourth minute Hamilton keeper Michael McGovern denied Steven Fletcher with a fine save, after the Sunderland striker had been set up by Ikechi Anya.
Anya had another long-distance drive which sped past the post and his third attempt in the 22nd minutes was also off-target, after he had been played in by McArthur following a break. Shaun Maloney was the next to fire over the bar after the increasingly confident Anya laid the ball into the path. Before Berra's goal, the best chance to fall to Scotland came on the hour mark when Fletcher was put through by Maloney but McGovern was equal to the shot.
