Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov: Louis van Gaal is 'scum'
Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov has slammed Louis van Gaal, and described the Manchester United boss as "scum".
The pair's paths crossed at the Nou Camp when Van Gaal was appointed manager in 1997, a year after Stoichkov had begun his second spell in Catalonia.
The Bulgarian made just four league appearances that season, however, and was sold to CSKA Sofia the following summer.
And the five-time Spanish league winner has now claimed that the pair clashed on a personal level, alleging Van Gaal made an inappropriate comment to his wife.
He also blames the Reds boss for forcing him out of Barca.
"I have no respect for (Van Gaal) - he's scum," Stoichkov said.
"One day, when I was injured, I was with my wife at Camp Nou and Van Gaal went up to her.
"He asked her how it was possible that she married someone like me. She responded that I was a Ballon d'Or winner.
"My departure in 1998 was the fault of Van Gaal, for sure."
Van Gaal won two Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and a UEFA Super Cup during his time at Barca.
