JONATHAN Sexton has bagged the biggest professional contract in rugby history after agreeing to sign on the dotted line for Racing Metro.
Contract negotiations between Racing Metro and Sexton's agent Fintan Drury have been ongoing for some months and it now looks like all the talking was worthwhile.
The two-year deal is believed be worth up to €2m and will make him the best paid player in the history of the game.
While this is fantastic news for Sexton, it comes as a bitter blow to Leinster fans who had hoped that he might be persuaded to stay.
But his exile in France will be brief and there is no reason to think that he could not return in two years, all the wiser for the experience.
