Hickey flings her way to brilliant double triumph
A fine double in the throws was recorded by Aoife Hickey of Loreto Kilkenny. After her personal best of 50.81 at the South Leinster Schools Championships a week earlier, Hickey had hoped to improve on Eileen O'Keeffe's Leinster Schools record of 49.51, but fell short with a best of 48.24, still enough to give her an emphatic win.
