WRU welcome team salary cap
THE Welsh Rugby Union has welcomed the announcement that its four professional regions will operate under a salary cap from the start of next season.
Regional Rugby Wales, the umbrella body which represents the regions, revealed yesterday that the salary cap of £3.5m will cover the players registered for European competition.
With the likes of Toulouse and Toulon reportedly able to offer players €600,000 salaries, the regions have had to accept they do not have the financial muscle to compete.
Quins' Skinner to face hearing
Harlequins flanker Will Skinner has been called to attend a disciplinary hearing in Dublin tomorrow following his red card in Sunday's Heineken Cup victory in Toulouse.
Skinner was sent off for allegedly preventing Toulouse from taking a quick lineout.
