Ulster out to take five

Ulster v Aironi, Ravenhill, TONIGHT, KO 7.30

You can call it the luck of the Northern Irish if you want! Ulster have been blessed to avoid the trauma guaranteed to Leinster and Munster in the initial Pool stages.

They start their quest for qualification to the knockout part of the Heineken for the first time since they won the competition in 1999 with what has to be a five-pointer at home to Aironi with inconsistent Bath and Biarritz in the offing.

Coach Brian McLaughlin also has the motivation of being able to point out to his players that they have won four and drawn one in the Magners without slipping into their groove.

The arrival of Ruan Pienaar (pictured right) has come at just the right time of the season.

Verdict: Ulster
