The best that can be said about this weekend for Irish provinces is that Ulster remain one of just two clubs - the other is Glasgow Warriors - to be unbeaten after four rounds of the PRO14 League.

Munster were unceremoniously pounded by Dave Rennie's Warriors in Scotstoun where Leinster will travel to in round two of The Champions Cup.

The return of Munster's senior players cannot come quickly enough for a group lacking leadership on this occasion.

Greater

The date with Leinster at The Aviva takes on even greater significance.

"I am sure that when we get the likes of Conor Murray back we will go forward and do better," uttered Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus.

"We were under pressure and did not handle that pressure well.

"It was like the previous four games where Glasgow did not handle the pressure well and we beat them four games in a row.

"This time they did it to us," he stated.

Connacht fell to their third loss in four, their second at home, to Cardiff Blues, despite the heroics of Bundee Aki and a rejuvenated Ultan Dillane.

"I don't think we had the right attitude at all," said coach Kieran Keane.

"We knew it would be pretty combative against Cardiff. We planned for it, worked hard all week an various things.

Confident

"We were confident we were well prepared and ready to go, but we didn't fire a shot."

Ulster Director of Rugby Les Kiss is long enough in the game not to make any grand statements ahead of the start of Europe as they lead the way from The Scarlets and Leinster in Conference B.

"The guys were focused on how they went about their business and got the reward," he said after The Dragons were dispatched with ease.

"It's important that the group recognise that if we prepare well, understand what we're doing, stick to the plan, then you can achieve.

"It won't be good enough in three weeks' time if we don't keep evolving."
