Joe Murphy and his CC Roscrea team-mates celebrate their side's victory. Bank of Ireland Leinster Schools Senior Cup Final

History was created at the RDS yesterday as Cistercian College Roscrea beat Belvedere College 18-11 to take home the Leinster Schools Senior Cup title for the first time.

Scrum half Hugh O'Sullivan set up Sean Long's opening try for Belvedere before a Tim Foley penalty on 18 minutes, followed by a superb Dan Trayers try after 31, gave Roscrea the lead.

It lasted until the final kick of the half, when a Conor Jennings penalty levelled it up.

The second half was nip and tuck as Belvo again took the early initiative. Another Jennings penalty made it 11-8 to the pre-match favourites but Trayers, Foley, Tim Carroll and the rest took control.

A classic wing try finished by Daniel Keane with Alan Tynan, Foley with a superb pass and the outstanding Caroll all contributing, paved the way for Keane's touchdown.

Foley added the extras from the touchline, as well as a further penalty to complete the scoring as Roscrea tackled themselves to a standstill in search of the trophy they so coveted and, at the end, unquestionably deserved.

It was a great day for a great rugby school as the biggest cup in the province makes its way to Roscrea for the very first time.

In Munster Ardscoil Ris' search for their first ever Munster Senior Cup title goes on after Rockwell College beat them 23-13 at Thomond Park.

Mikey Wilson's first half try proved decisive as Rockwell claimed their 26th title and their first since 2012.
