Robbie Henshaw has been ruled out of Ireland's World Cup opener against Canada on Saturday.

Henshaw was expected to start for Joe Schmidt's men but he picked up an injury this week and will sit this game out. While the nature of the injury has yet to be confirmed, it is understood  he is not likely to miss the whole tournament and could make a return for the Romania game.

Luke Fitzgerald is favourite to partner Jared Payne in the centre for Saturday's Cardiff clash when Joe Schmidt announces his 15 at 2pm today.
