Over 35s line out for second season of veterans' league
Friday October 17 2008
Some of the veterans of club rugby in Leinster managed without GPS (Great Pints of Something) to find their way to Kiely's of Donnybrook last week to celebrate the launch of the Leinster Vets (Over 35s) League for 2008/09.
This follows a most successful first season last year, when more than €5,000 was raised for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin. It is planned that this amount will be topped this year and it is all from voluntary contributions from the players.
Joe Osborne of Bective Rangers FC is the whirlwind-like organiser of the league. He is delighted with the enthusiasm of the other organisers and once again grateful to Kiely's for their sponsorship.
It is hoped to have the first of four rounds played in early November with one match a month until the semi-finals and finals in March.
