Leinster star Luke Fitzgerald struggling to make World Cup
Unlucky Luke Fitzgerald will have to battle back from his latest injury to make Ireland's World Cup squad.
It is estimated the left wing will be out for three months after undergoing shoulder surgery at the weekend, not long after overcoming a career threatening hip/groin injury.
"Basically, it's a repair to his labrum. He suffered a bit of damage there," said Leinster forwards coach Leo Cullen.
"I'll find out more as the week goes on to see exactly how long it's going to be or where that leaves him."
The three-month period of rehabilitation leaves little room for manoeuvre in the event of a setback or slower-than-expected recovery.
This will place Fitzgerald in a position of playing 'catch-up,' probably starting back into full pre-season one month after the bulk of the Ireland squad.
