Ulster will be without Tommy Bowe, Nick Williams and Wiehahn Herbst when they put their PRO12 League season on the line against leaders Leinster at The Kingspan Stadium on Saturday, writes Des Berry.

Bowe has been hindered by what is described as "a mild knee reaction" to his World Cup injury in what could be code for endangering his participation in Ireland's three-test tour to South Africa.

For the moment, the wing has been earmarked for the final match of the regular season against his old club The Ospreys.

The shoulder injury that has cut short Williams Ulster career will deny the New Zealander a hero's farewell at Ravenhill where he has played the role of a talisman over the last four seasons.

Leinster have been fed the additional prize of not having to deal with the scrummaging prowess of Herbst as the South African is about two weeks away from returning to the game.
