RODDY Collins took up the chance to manage Waterford United because of the "massive" potential at the Suirside club.

The Blues are enduring one of their worst seasons in living memory, United bottom of the First Division table and on a run of four straight defeats.

Collins has now been installed as manager, though previous boss Tommy Griffin remains on board as Head of Football Operations.

"The facilities that the club use are superb: a superb pitch, two fantastic stands in the RSC and top class facilities to train in. The potential for this club is massive and I can't wait for the game this Friday," said Collins. "I just want to get to know the squad and get ready for Friday night."
