Revamp of CC season
A MAJOR revamp to the cross-country season is on the way after last weekend's Athletics Ireland's annual Congress in Santry.
The national junior and senior inter club cross country championships will take place in November and replace the intercounties as the selection race for the European Cross Country, with the senior men's race shortened to 10,000m.
A national 4,000m short course championships will make a comeback, while the Intercounties will now take place after Christmas season, with the entire cross-country season wrapping up before mid-February.
At juvenile level, the U19 age group is abolished.
