Perfect day for the Dub clubs in Down
Raheny's Mick Clohisey and Maria McCambridge made it a Dublin senior double at the at the Glo Health National Interclub Cross-Country Championships in Kilbroney, Co Down.
Clohisey, the defending champion, had a comfortable victory in the senior men's 12km race over Sergiu Ciobanu of Clonliffe, DSD's Brendan O'Neill and Clonmel's Kevin Maunsell - the big four in the race. With Jayme Rossiter sixth, Tudor Mircea ninth and David Flynn 10th, Clonliffe regained the team title they lost to DSD last year.
DSD completed a clean sweep in the women's 8km race, with McCambridge taking her third victory in the race, followed by Sarah Mulligan and Michelle McGee.
With Meghan Ryan seventh, DSD were clear winners of a team competition for which only four clubs in the entire country had entered teams. It was an eleventh win for DSD since 2001.
Kevin Mulcaire was the only non-Dublin individual winner, successfully defending the men's junior title he won last year. He also led Ennis TC to the only non-Dublin team victory over DSD and Clonliffe.
Clonliffe's Hope Saunders led home eighteen finishers in the junior women's race, with DSD the winning team from Clonliffe. Of the twelve team placings, eleven went to Dublin clubs.
DSD's 'Team of 1990' was led home by Noel Berkeley in a respectable 34th place, while Inishowen veteran Pauric McKinney continued his remarkable record in the race when he finished 23rd.
