Owen Heary blasts Sligo 'fear factor'

WITH predictions of a mid-season clear out beginning to emerge, Owen Heary has told his Sligo Rovers players that nothing less that a win at home to fellow strugglers Limerick next weekend will do.

Still without a win this season, Limerick remain bottom of the table but spirits in the Blues camp have been boosted by their weekend draw with Shamrock Rovers, as the Hoops needed a late equaliser from Brandon Miele - his third goal of the season - to earn a 1-1 draw in Limerick on Saturday night.

Though their goal difference is the worst in the league (-16), Limerick could draw level with Sligo if they can win in the Showrounds on Saturday as Sligo aim to recover from their 3-0 loss to St Patrick's Athletic.

"Limerick is a massive game for us now, it's the last game in this series so we need to go and win," said Sligo boss Heary, unhappy with his side's efforts away to Pats.

"I thought we were very poor, all-round it was very poor. There seemed to be a fear factor from the players, playing against them, and I don't know why that is.

"We had put in some good performances over the last few weeks, and then to throw that away against St Pats.

"If you stand off Pats and allow them to pass the ball, the way we did the other night, they will punish you as they did.

"We didn't create enough in the game, we didn't get in their faces, we didn't show enough passion and that's disappointing," added Heary, his side having managed just one win in 10 games this season as the Sligo boss considers squad changes in the summer.
