Rio 2016 is the Irish target at the World League qualifier
UCD Belfield is the venue from March 14 -22 for the World Hockey League for women. A place in the top three will earn the Irish women a place at the Olympic qualifiers, with the top six from that tournament booking their places at Rio 2016.
Ireland at 15th is the top ranked team in the competition and plays Canada, Ukraine and Turkey in the pool stages. Belarus ranked 19th tops the second pool.
Locally, after a 2-0 victory over Loreto sealed victory in the Leinster League last weekend, Hermes hockey club is on target to add three more trophies to the cabinet this season.
They face Railway Union in the Jacqui Potter Cup final on March 17, then play the Ulster Elks in the Irish Senior Cup on March 29. Finally, they complete their season at the Irish Hockey League finals on the weekend of April 11, along with Railway Union and UCD.
