JENNY FERRARI struck a first-half winner to send St Mac Dara's Community College beyond Alexandra College into the Leinster Senior Girls Cup semi-finals.
The Ireland international schoolgirl's first-half finish yesterday was enough to give the Templeogue school victory in the glamour tie of the round.
After seeing off last year's beaten finalists, Mac Dara's now join holders Eureka Kells and Moyne CC in the next round.
The final quarter-final takes place tomorrow, with Sacred Heart Tullamore taking on Caritas College for the right to complete the final-four line-up.
Until that game takes place and the subsequent semi-final draw is made, Mac Dara's manager Jason Carey insists his side will enjoy their big win.
"We have had some big games against Alexandra over the last few seasons so it was great to come out on top this time," said Carey.
"They are a top, top side with a history of success in this competition so it is an achievement in itself to get the win here and we will take confidence from that."
Also tomorrow, the Senior B Cup destination will be decided when Scoil Aireagail, Ballyhale take on Ramsgrange Community School in New Ross.
Both sides have had to wait over a month for the decider after coming through tough semi-finals within 24 hours of each other in December.
The Wexford school followed up Aireagail's semi-final victory over Drogheda Grammar School 24 hours earlier by seeing off county rivals Colaiste Abbain, Adamstown.
