Pietersen knocks out a career-best
Kevin Pietersen hit a superb career-best unbeaten triple century for Surrey yesterday to offer a reminder of his talents ahead of new England cricket director Andrew Strauss' first news conference.
Pietersen, sacked by England last year but desperate for a recall, finished the day on 326, batting for over seven hours against Leicestershire at The Oval.
It was his 50th first-class ton and his first county championship hundred for nearly two years. He has faced 373 balls, and hit 34 boundaries and 14 sixes.
British media reported that Pietersen was to meet with Strauss, who has had problems with the controversial right-hander, and ECB chief executive Tom Harrison last night.
