Naas and UCD volley their way to league titles
With only this weekend's round of matches left, the Naas women and the UCD men have already nailed down the Volleyball Ireland league titles for the season.
In the women's premier division, Naas dominated from the start, but a wobble in February when they lost to both UCD and then DVC gave defending champions DVC hope.
DVC then scuppered their chances when they lost to UCD and now face UCD again tomorrow. If they lose, UCD will overtake them for the runners-up spot this seasonn.
Naas meanwhile travel to Galway to play NUIG, currently fourth on the table. Key players for the Galway team are setter Regina Halpin and midde Olivia Molloy.
If they win, Naas, with a squad including international players Niamh Bergin, Laura Owens, and the Benn and Clancy sisters, will be confirmed as league champions for the first time.
In the men's premiership, UCD are certain of the title, with only a catch-up match against DVC to play.
