Motorcycling: Cookstown 100 to get season off and motoring in high gear
The Cookstown 100 on Saturday marks the start of what promises to be a thrilling road racing season.
It'll be a first chance to see Michael Dunlop in action since he switched from BMW to Yamaha. His brother William has gone the other way, from Yamaha to BMW.
Michael, who made history last season with four wins in consecutive years on the Isle of Man TT course, has been allocated the number three plate for this year, the number we associate with his uncle, the legend Joey Dunlop.
But the competition this season will be fierce for the man currently rated the best road racer.
Among the challengers is brother William, who beat Michael last year in an exciting head-to-head in the opening Superbike race in the North West 200, which earned him Race of the Year.
Among the names to watch this season are Mullingar man Derek McGee (28) who won the Supersport title last year, Guy Martin and Dean Harrison. MotoGP star Jeremy McWilliams will also be road racing this year.
